To create navigational buttons, add a new layer: Using the rectangular marquee tool and draw a rectangle. To round off the corners > Select > Modify > smooth. The smooth selection will appear, I choose a radius of 5px and click OK ( This will round off the corners ).
Again use the paint bucket to apply your chosen colour. After doing so Control or command D to deselect. Next to go over layer palette, double click on the layer containing the to bring up the styles add a drop shadow and an inner shadow.
The nest stage will be to add some text, with the text tool selected write Home. With the move tool selected, select the button in the layer palette and lock the text. This will enable you to align the text in the centre of the button. In the top right hand corner of the layer, click on the arrow, it will reveal a contextual menu choose new set from linked. Photoshop will create a folder in your layer palette It might be a good idea to name it home button. This is done by double clicking on the text area of the layer to change the layer name.
