Carnival 2010

As far as London goes, the next big event will be Nottinghill carnival. Yes August bank holiday, is when the sound of Caribbean music take to the streets. The Carnival brings tourist to London but the bands are not rewarded for their effort. There's lots of costumes which I've had the pleasure, of seeing them being constructed. 
While there's a carnival committees, they have not done a great job in getting funds to the bands that make the event what it is today.
What these people on these committees have done,  is to sell out the arts cheaply.
The prizes for winning Panorama is totally under valued, and it's time to address it. it's time these small island people with small mentality rise to the task. They are too willing to go and jump up like monkeys for peanuts, it's time for change. The arts council spends out for useless performance, that does not contribute to UK tourism as carnival does.
What must be done this year is to make clear the prize money for Panorama, to give people the incentives to compete. If the present committee can not negotiate a better deal, it's time they move over and let fresh heads in.

Over the pass few years Grenada corner which is not just a meeting place. Grenada corner is recognised by the bands that take to the street, as an establish viewing Point for all bands. It is also a meeting place for Grenadians, not only for Grenadians in this country, but around the world.
This is something that the carnival committee should respect, as it gives the corner and the carnival a family atmosphere.
Carnival is a family event and by not recognising this, the carnival committee is creating a tension in Grenada corner.
